Key Duties and Accountabilities
  • Participate in the maintenance and provision of spatial information through the production and development of cartographic products and services.
  • Assist in providing technical advice to departmental officers and customers in the field of mapping and spatial data management, and associated products and services.
  • Contribute to the creation of innovative solutions and efficient processes associated with mapping and spatial data access and management.
  • Work independently and/or collaboratively within a team environment on a project or program basis, to ensure that objectives are completed in a timely, appropriate, and effective manner.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies associated with spatial information, geographic information systems (GIS), geo-resource and natural resource data management, and associated products and services.
  • Prepare written and verbal reports relating to geographic information products and services where required.
  • Knowledge or experience in the creation of Web Mapping Applications would be beneficial but not mandatory. Knowledge or experience of Feature Manipulation Engine or Python coding would be beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Other duties as directed and required.
Role requirements
  • A Degree qualification in the field of Spatial Sciences, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Natural Resource Management, or an agreed equivalent as determined by the Director-General.
  • Travel away from the centre may be required. This may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation.
  • Flexible work location arrangements will be considered for this opportunity to facilitate an adaptive and agile workforce. The successful candidate may work from a regional or Brisbane based location as negotiated with management.
